Literature Text

A reflected sunset
drowns inside
twin black holes.

Her thin fingers
slip down
rusted iron bars;
her palms
come away blushing with
unwanted crimson
snowflakes.

She wore petrichor
for perfume
when he found her -
he simply
cloaked himself
in rot.

Now
blood drops,
like tears,
splash
against stone -
gnaw the earth
deep -
the Institute
must have it.

He calls himself
reviver,
but when he
speaks her name
his words are
a pale horse's
hoofbeats,
and her throat
a garden
overgrown
with bitter
weeds.
Written for - NaPoWriMo Challenge 3

Write a poem that includes each of the five senses (touch, sight, smell, sound, taste) without overtly naming any of them.

Use at least one of the following tools in the poem: Metonymy, Enjambment, palindrome, allusion, onomatopoeia

Bonus if you're able to use more than one!

Metonymy - the Institute (from the 99 Percent Dark universe)
Enjambment - nearly all my lines use this... ^^;
Palindrome - "reviver"
allusion - pale horse (allusion to Death)
onomatopoeia - "splash"

Inspired by Amanda and MacCloud / 99 Percent Dark

Written for April 22 - Day 22 : NaPoWriMo

NaPoCoMo: Which of the five senses do you feel was described the best in this poem? What did this poem make you want to know more about? Which sense was the weakest in this piece?
